Resting in God Breaths Empowerment

When we think of empowerment we think of extra extraordinary power that takes over everything, helping us conquer anything. Kinda like a super hero with powers that can do anything. 

I don’t know about you, but when I think of empowerment I think of the great heros of the bible who conquered amazing things for God. Hebrews 11 the great roll call of faith of those who did impacting things with the empowerment of the spirit of God. Sometimes I compare, see and feel where I am at with life and leadership and I kinda feel short of empowered at times. 

Reading psalm 23 made me see that David at times felt and saw inadequate, frail, fearful, rejection and sin in his life . The one core thing in reflection of David’s life and leadership was that he was a ‘man after Gods own heart’. A man that no matter what in situations and circumstances he always chased after Gods heart. A man who always knew that his empowerment came from the master creator of the universe. 

Psalm 23 is a reflection of a man realising that his empowerment comes from the Shepard. That from the power source he needs nothing. That it’s God who leads him to lush meadows beside quiets waters. In the stillness of God, he finds his breath to be sent out in the right directions. 

This is the empowerment… beside quiet waters and in stillness of God. 

Today as you reflect on life and leadership know that you don’t have to have super powers of empowerment that can do everything, but you can have the true empowerment of the spirit found that in the stillness of God that can conquer everything. 

Reflect on psalm 23, listen to the worship clip and see what the spirit wants to breath into you this day.  The very Breath that breaths life of empowerment to conquer everything in and through where Christs name.

What is Grace? Grace is the very character of God’s nature, abounding and overflowing outwardly in acts of pity, mercy, compassion and liberal giving.

Leading up to Easter is my Fav time of the year. I love reflecting on the Grace of God in my life. Today I Worship in spirit and truth through the freedom because of the Grace God has lavished out on me daily. Its in the pure beauty of Gods grace that i can worship.

“Grace” is the most important aspect in the Bible, Christianity, and the world. Grace is Gods heartbeat clearly expressed in the promises of his nature revealed in Scripture and embodied in Jesus Christ.

Grace is the love of God shown to the unlovely; the peace of God given to the restless; the unmerited favor of God.

God is gracious.. 

Words proclaimed to Moses By the Lord:“The LORD, the LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abounding in goodness and truth, keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin” (Exodus 34:6-7).

 

King David also wrote that God is gracious: “The LORD is gracious and full of compassion, slow to anger and great in mercy. The LORD is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works” (Psalm 145:8-9).

The apostle Peter called God “the God of all grace” (1 Peter 5:10).

It is through Christ’s sacrifice, His shed blood, that God gives us His grace.  Romans 3:24: “Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.” It is through Christ that we receive God’s grace; and if we didn’t receive that grace, we would die in our sins and never have an opportunity to live forever.

This Easter lead up, Reflect on the Grace God has show you in your life through the person of Jesus Christ.

Empowerment In Promise & Power

 

 

Jesus… the master of empowerment in the New Testament through both natural and divine, we see In John 16:7-15 was empowering those that he lead for three years with a PROMISE.

A PROMISE to be empowered in their “Inner most being” (Ephesians 3:16) through the comforter/ Helper. Jesus knew that God had bigger plans and knew to the advantage of the disciples, it was best for him to go, and leave a PROMISE that would empower them and empower us today.

“ I shall go. So the helper will come.” Jesus knew that the helper, the “Holy Spirit” is what would empower their inner most being for all generations. The great role of the Holy Spirit was to be the comforter, helper, intercessor, Advocate, and Strengthener that will remain with them and us forever… What a promise! (John 14:16)

The role of the helper/comforter “Holy Spirit” is that of one that empower the inner most being with resources that is easily available. To those who believe in their hearts, confess with their mouths that Jesus is Lord receive the Spirit the day of conversion.(Romans 10:9-10) When we have the Spirit activating within us, unlocking the unlimited resources available to us we live and lead a life totally surrendered and honouring unto God.

The Holy spirit that Jesus PROMISED was to help:

In making choices having the  indwelling Counselor

In Daily stress as the indwelling Comforter

In Difficult situations the Helper

In hurting relationships as the One who stands at God’s right hand as your Intercessor

In your Mistakes as the ultimate Advocate

when Life’s too heavy you can draw on your Strengthener

When you Just can’t go on to lean Standby

In your life do you live in the empowerment of the Holy Spirit as your Counselor/ Helper? What would your life look like if we choose to live every moment in the power of the intercessor?

Its in the every moment of life that the empowerment is unlocked when we allow the holy spirit full access to our lives moment -by–moments.

Just like the PROMISE Jesus left the disciples, he leaves with us daily.

Jesus knew that through the complete authority of Holy Spirit, Gods PRESENCE will be the igniting of the empowerment these disciples needed to actively undertake and complete the great commission. The call of life to be witnesses to Jerusalem, Judea Samaria and to the ends of the earth, we see in John 16:7-15 Jesus commands his disciples to stay in Jerusalem to wait for the presence of God, and receive the POWER of the Helper.

The “POWER” of the Holy Spirit empowers the disciples inner most being to communicate the gospel with GREAT power bringing revival to the nations. As seen in Acts 2 Peter stands to his feet “Bold and Courageously” proclaiming the first sermon empowered by the Holy Spirit in the native language of all to hear. ( Acts 2:14-40) This spiritual power is the divine energy God expresses in and through them to carry out the great commission.

What can we take away from this?

1. the promises of God are accessible for us today. Through his promises he empowers us with the divine power in our inner most being.
2. The Holy Spirits role in us to be our : comforter, helper, intercessor, Advocate, and Strengthener that will remain with you forever.
3. When we live with the Holy Spirit as our empower-er it will ignite the gospel message we share to our families, communities and to the mission field.
4. It is His power through us that emboldens us and carries out the work. – Through the work we are called to do
5. God will not place you into a position or ask you to accomplish a task for which He will not fully equip and enable you.

Today as you pray and reflect, consider the Spirit’s powerful resources available for you to live a life honoring to God, lead a life honoring to God. Just as Jesus leaves the disciples with a PROMISE of a helper, a PROMISE of the POWER of the Holy Spirit to help and activate the fulfillment of the great commission… He to PROMISES this to you today.

Be Empowered in your inner most being with the helper today, and know that its in the PROMISE and POWER of God that he has within you through the comforter/ helper.

What is true empowerment? True empowerment comes from the price Jesus paid nailed to the tree.

Through the complete victory in the death,  burial and ressurection, Jesus became the supreme sacrifice conquering the stronghold of sin.

When moments of discouragement hits, God wants to encourage me and you through the victory of the cross empowering us. It’s when we are a child of weakness, we are called to watch and pray, find in Him thine all in all…. empowerment.

Today see the empowerment of the cross, see the empowerment of the death, see the empowerment of the burial and see the complete victory of empowerment in the resurrection. Live and lead in and through this as your core being and you will operate in complete empowerment of God.

For when we are weak, he is strong and nothing can stand against us… “EMPOWERED”

Get Up – Be Empowered

But get up and stand upon your feet, for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to appoint you as a servant and witness to the things in which you have seen me and to those in which I will appear to you, – Acts 26:16

The Book of Acts was written to provide a history and powerful account of the early church that shook the world and multiplied. The emphasis of the book is the importance of the day of Pentecost and being empowered to be effective witnesses for Jesus Christ. Acts records the apostles being Christ’s witnesses in Jerusalem, Judea, Samaria, and to the rest of the surrounding world. 

The story of the church in these writings sheds profound light and meaning on the gift of the Holy Spirit as comfort, empowerer, supreme guide who teaches and serves within as enabler in our spiritual journey of obedience. 

When diving into the book of Acts, the spiritual sensors are enlightened and encouraged by the empowerment of many miracles that were being performed by ordinary men who we Christ followers,  the disciples Peter, John, and Paul.

 “The book of Acts emphasizes the importance of obedience to God’s Word and the transformation that occurs as a result of knowing Christ” 

Many times in this book we see the Holy Spirit empower these men to do the extraordinary in and through Christ.  We see the spirit speaking and saying many times to the faithful obedient “Get Up” , “Stand Up” and “Go” be EMPOWERED.

We too engage in this calling. As we are the living church of the Acts. The spirit still calls us to “Get Up- Be Empowered”.

What is the spirit speaking to you today? Is he calling you to get up, stand on your feet, for the purpose he has appeared to your spirit and soul is to appoint YOU to a mission of ministry. To witness not only to the things you have seen, but also to the things in which He will appear to you in his leading. 

Today be open to his whispers of leadings in your spirit and soul. Be sensitive to the spirits leading to “Get up – Be Empowered” and see what the Great I Am can do in and through your today.  Get connected in solitude, silence and prayer with the almighty Father.

This week as you feel the mid week pressure and battles, remember… when the fight calls we have a saviour who has overcome this world with Love. 
Jesus made our fight his own on the cross, paying the price of all our sin and shame. When fear hits, we can throw aside and cling to the cross, singing in the fight. 

Today take heart, and know that through his Holy Spirit’s empowering in our lives we can overcome any battle that comes our way. Today reflect on His love through the cross, and how the Holy Spirit empowers us to take heart in the fight.

Empowered Life

Empowered Life // Ephesians 3:14-21

Key Verse: 3:16 – Empowered through the spirit “Inner Being”

What is it to be truly empowered in your inner most being? Paul is writing to the church of Ephesus to empower them to see the key source of the empowerment that is within them.

We see that its within our inner most being that our soul was spirit breathed in the creation of man. When we see and connect to,  “we are a living being, spirit breathed”  how can this unlock the empowered life?

 In Genisis 2:7 God breaths life in to man very soul. (Genesis 2:7) 7 Then the Lord God formed the man from the dust of the ground. He breathed the breath of life into the man’s nostrils, and the man became a living person. This very breath of God is the connection of our soul and spirit in the image of God being the source of life. Being made in Gods image, we reflect the spirit, soul and form of God. (Genesis 1:27)27So God created human beings[a] in his own image. In the image of God he created them; male and female he created them.

God being a relational God, formed us out of his relationship as the trinity Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and through his exspression of  LOVE.  ( 1 John 4:8) Described as Love, God can be love only because he exist as community as three, unconditional Love is his character, Father to the Son, as the son to the father. God exists in a relationship of Love, and we are designed for this… from the father to us, and us to the father

So as soul and spirit beings in the image of God, he desires the communication and connection with us the created. As seen in the garden of Eden, God connected in the cool of the evening in an open and close connection to the “soul being” of the created man and women. The soul connection was pure and divine and the Love of the father was seen through the intimate relationship.

As we live in the fallen world in sin and separation, Gods redemptive plan to bring back that close communication and connection in the soul being, through the Lord Jesus Christ. In his death, burial and resurrection, Gods plan of redemption is shown through the ultimate Love gift. When we acknowledge our sin, and accept the gift of salvation we become born again and the connection with God is made complete again.

The day of salvation, comes the empowerment of the Holy spirit to seal us and to empower us. True empowerment starts and stops with the Holy Spirit within us. The role of the holy spirit was actively present in the creation and the involvement of creation of man and now is the true source of life, which strives with man, and it teaches and guides  us daily. 

The Holy Spirit is the manifestation of Gods presence within us and this is what fills and empowers us in our inner most being. How does the Holy Spirit empower us? When we are born again believers, we receive the gift of the spirit on the day of conversion. This is the empowerment of Gods love within us. The Holy Sprit’s role is in the day of salvation as It brings us to belief, brings us to the sanctification and justification through salvation. 

The Spirits role is to help communicate to the father, help connect to the fathers heart and  help empower us to the do the God ordained task that relates to the call he has on our lives. God wants to empower your life through the spirit to have that close connection and communication.

As you reflect on this, think of how the holy spirit called you to the day of salvation. Think of the day you were saved, and the day your received the Holy Spirit as the sealing gift to help empower you in life. Reflect on your soul being, are you in close connection the your heavenly father through the empowering work of the Holy Spirit in your life.

God is waiting to have the close connection with you through the empowering communication of the Holy Spirit in your life. Start today by connecting to the power source that is within you of the gift of the spirit.

Sound Of Empowerment

Every generation has a clear and distinct sound from music, trends, fashion and the social issues that are raised with loud voices.

Think of a generation that was the loudest in sound for you?

 

For me it was the 90’s going into the millennium with the y2k bug and the New Years with the word “Eternity” 
written on the harbour bridge giving the message of Hope. With so much fear around approaching the new millennium and what that would look like, be like and sound like.

What is the sound of this generation?  What is the noise we hear as we live and lead in this generation?

What is the sound of empowerment? What is the sound that filled the room at Pentecost?

The sounds of empowerment : acts 2:1-8
1 When the day of Pentecost arrived, they were all together in one place.2 And suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting.

3 And divided tongues as of fire appeared to them and rested on each one of them.4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit gave them utterance.

5 Now there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation under heaven.6 And at this sound the multitude came together, and they were bewildered, because each one was hearing them speak in his own language.

7 And they were amazed and astonished, saying, “Are not all these who are speaking Galileans?8 And how is it that we hear, each of us in his own native language?

The sound of empowerment was clear, the empowerment to speak in other languages, the empowerment to share the gospel in every native tongue. The empowerment was like a mighty rushing sound that filled the room and the hearts of these men empowering them to proclaim the good news to every tribe, nation and tongue. This was the sound Of Empowerment, the sound of revival as Peter proclaims the first greatest message of all time where thousands were saved.

We see three key points in this passage:

1. Unity :

– They were all together as one

– they were all in one place

2. Anticipation : 

– they were expectant for the empowering

– they were in anticipation of the empowering

 

3. Participation : 

– the entire room was filled

– they were able to speak in languages – they shared the gospel
So what does this sound look like for us:

The sound Of Empowerment for us is in…

1. Breakdown culture

2. Builds communication

3. Bonds connection

We see in this passage that through the empowering of the spirit that all man would hear the “sound of revival and transformation”.

So as we look at empowerment we need to go back to the source, listen to the sound and hear what God is going to do.

In every generation God has a sound of Empowerment, sound of where his spirit is moving. We are called to listen to this sound, connect to the sound of the spirit moving , be fully surrenders and go out into all the world to share the good news.

So how will the spirit empower us? 

So what will the sound of empowerment sound like in the lives of us, leaders, states, GBA?

Because these men of acts were empowered with the sound of the spirit, the language spoken of the good news was dynamic where the world took note and listened. The sound of revival and transformation was being made known to all… we see this as a generation empowered for proclamation of the good news for all.
We to can have this Empowerment, all we need to do is listen and connect to the sound of empowerment through the Holy Spirit in our very core being.

Empowered To Journey

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” – Acts 1:8

With a new year comes new hopes and dreams. A fresh slate for God to write on the tablet of your heart the plans and purposes he has for you in your life and leadership for 2017.
Reflecting on the new beginnings the disciples had after the death and resurrection of their Lord, made me think of their new year of what would be the most empowered year of their lives.

As they greived thy loss of their best friend, Messiah and Lord as they gathered together just as the great “I Am” commanded them to. Together in the upper room reflecting on what was Christs earthly ministry,  many mix emotions formed… They had given up everything to follow the Lord, with the Hope of the kingdom being restored on earth. 

Here we see that Gods plan for the kingdoms resore was not one of an earthly plan but a heavenly kingdom that knows no bounds.The plans these men had were not the plans of the Almighty God. 

Jesus promised that he would leave a comforter that would empower them to live  and lead out the great commission that he spoke of in Matthew 28. Here in the upper room we see the empowerment of the Holy Spirit to forfill the promise of God with the power of the Holy Spirit.

This year, what promises has God given you that he will empower you to have power in? This year what plans and purposes had God shown you to live and lead out of?

Know this, that as we look at the book of acts… look at the journey of empowerment, know that the almighty God will empower you to do the kingdom work he has for his establishment of His name.
Prepare your hearts for the journey of empowerment this year. The breathing of the Holy Spirit into your soul and spirit like non other. The anointing to have the power to the promises he has proclaimed over your life
